Project Description:
Quite possibly the most notable and innovative projects for B&D in 2009 was the Gilman Hall Renovation located at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland. B&D Contractors, Inc. was hired by Novum Structures, LLC to install the 60' by 60' arched glass skylight that tops Gilman Hall's existing atrium. The skylight is comprised of four 8,000-pound framing ladders and 154 5-foot square panels as well as stainless steel tension cables strung in a criss-cross pattern to stabilize the structure. B&D triumphantly overcame the many challenges presented with a cross-country project and completed a landmark project that will be remembered for years to come.
