Project: Victory Gardens Biograph Theater
Class of Work: Historic Window Restoration
Date: June 2006--September 2006
The Victory Gardens Biograph Theater in Chicago, the site of the shooting of John Dillinger in 1934, required city Historic approval in a short time frame to be complete in time for its Grand Opening on September 29, 2006.
Working from old photos of the windows and logging more than 50 hours of documentation of existing details and drawings in-house proved vital in meeting this deadline. B&D also chose to work with an excellent window manufacturer of Historic replicas in
Parrett
Windows. Working in conjunction with Parrett to expedite drawings and details and deliver a product turnaround in six weeks was unbelievable.
In total, from shop drawings to project completion, B&D completed this restoration in just 14 weeks for
Pepper Construction and Pepper Project Vice President Sandra
Reinert.
